Named by The Economist as one of Twenty Living Polymaths, Hough was the first classical performer to be awarded a MacArthur Fellowship. Pianist and jazz composer Gwilym Simcock collaborates with Welsh/Bajan artist Kizzy Crawford and an ensemble from leading Welsh chamber orchestra Sinfonia Cymru to create a special collection of newly composed music. Birdsong / Can Yr Adar brings the Welsh rainforest to the stage through a live orchestral fusing of soul-folk and jazz. This special project tours venues across Wales this November. The Hampstead performance will be the ONLY opportunity to hear it in England.
Funded by the Arts Council of Wales, Sinfonia Cymru & RSPB Cymru
and is also part of the 2016 EFG London Jazz Festival

Ivor Novello stars in this classic 1927 silent film, directed by Alfred Hitchcock. With live improvisatory accompaniment by pianist / composer extraordinaire Gwilym Simcock.
This screening will use the 2012 BFI restoration, awarded 5 stars by The Guardian, and about which Kevin Maher of The Times has said: "Gorgeous... Hitchcock's most underrated movie ... has just become even more beautiful, more devious and more emotionally satisfying..."
